Three Unique Sussex Wine Tours for English Wine Week

The annual celebration of English Wine Week takes place between 15th to 23rd June this year. Great British Wine Tours is offering three unique tours of vineyards in Sussex to mark the occasion.

Saturday 15th June

Vintage Bus Wine Tour to Court Garden and Artelium

Step aboard an iconic 1960s Red Routemaster London Bus for a journey from Brighton into the heart of English wine country. First stop is at the charming Court Garden Vineyard, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by the Corney family.

You’ll enjoy a tour of the vineyard and the winery with one of their expert guides and learn about their history of growing vines and wine production. Then of course there’s a chance to sample four of Court Garden’s sparkling wines in a tutored wine tasting. After which, you can enjoy your homemade, seasonal picnic lunch served in a traditional wicker hamper, either out amongst the vines or at one of the many picnic tables dotted about the estate.

After lunch, it’s a short journey on the vintage bus to Artelium for an expertly guided tasting of their still and sparkling wines. There’s plenty of time to relax on the south-facing terrace, where you can soak up the sweeping views of the South Downs before your return journey to Brighton.

Steam & Vine Tour for English Wine Week

Friday 21st June

Steam & Vine Tour to Bluebell Railway and Kingscote Vineyard 

One of our Great British Wine Tours hosts will welcome you at Brighton Station and invite you to step aboard a stylish 1950s green single-decker vintage bus for a delightful journey through the picturesque landscapes of Sussex to the famous Bluebell Steam Railway.

On arrival at historic Sheffield Park Station, you’ll be treated to a guided station exploration, before taking a scenic 90-minute ride on a vintage steam train through the stunning Sussex countryside to Horsted Keynes station.

Hop back on the vintage bus for a short ride to Kingscote Estate & Vineyard. Here, you’ll indulge in a delicious homemade lunch, perfectly paired with one of their English still wines. Then, prepare for an immersive vineyard and winery tour, where you’ll discover the fascinating journey from grape to glass. The vineyard tour concludes with a guided tasting of acclaimed still and sparkling wines on the sun terrace. Finally, you’ll return on the vintage bus to Brighton, wrapping up what promises to be a truly enchanting day.

Wine tasting at Albourne on a Great British Wine Tour for English Wine Week

Saturday 22nd June

Vintage Bus Wine Tour to Ridgeview and Albourne

This day out to remember starts in style as we head out of Brighton and into the glorious South Downs aboard an iconic vintage red London Routemaster bus. 

Your first stop is at the renowned Ridgeview Estate, located just outside Ditchling, for a tour of the vines and winery. You’ll have the chance to sample Ridgeview’s award-winning sparkling wines in a tutored wine tasting, before lunch is served at the alfresco Rows & Vine restaurant, overlooking the chardonnay vines. You can enjoy a selection of local cheese and charcuterie platters in the idyllic setting, after which it’s another short ride on the vintage Routemaster to the boutique vineyard of Albourne Estate.

At Albourne you’ll be treated to an expertly guided tasting of both their still and sparkling wines. Complete your day with a glass of Albourne wine on their south facing balcony, taking time to relax, take in the views and reminisce about your day before the return journey to Brighton.
