What does Nutbourne have to say?

As the name suggests, this is a wine that captures the essence of the Sussex landscape.

It is off-dry, made from a blend of our Riesling-style German varietals, including fruit from our forty-year-old vines.

A blend of Shönburger, Bacchus and Huxelrebe creates a beautifully rounded wine with a big wildflower bouquet and an abundance of hedgerow fruits.

Hedgerow is not as sweet as a dessert wine but has richness and character to cope with big flavoured foods. Pairs well with strong blue cheeses, chicken liver paté, game terrines and orchard fruit desserts.

The art: Just as Nutbourne wines are only made from grapes grown on the estate, every bottle features Bridget Gladwin’s paintings. Mark making whilst working on a series on geological mapping, this painting came about by accident – the artist insists “a lobster simply appeared on the canvas.”
